Zeiss 50mm f/2.0 Makro-Planar ZE Macro Lens for Canon EF Mount SLRs
The Zeiss 50mm f/2.0 Makro-Planar ZE Macro Lens for Canon EF Mount SLRs is a high performing macro lens with a focal length of 50mm. Classic portraits are as much the strength of the Makro-Planar T* 2/50 as the most striking details from close up. Thanks to its reliability at any distance, this macro lens can be used for a variety of tasks. As one of the fastest macro lenses available, small details can be isolated from the foreground and the background for incredible creative control.
ZE LENSES
Zeiss ZE lenses are built with a EF bayonet for Canon EOS cameras. The manually focusable ZE lenses (for EF mount) feature electronic shutter control and additional electronic contacts to the camera. All existing exposure programs (P, AV, TV, M) and the AF confirmation function of the camera are supported; lens information (focal length and speed) is passed on to the camera. Certain functions that require the use of AF lenses (various scene modes, A-DEP) are partially unavailable. ZE lenses are compatible with the EOS camera bodies listed here, and further cameras with EF mount (e.g. cameras for cinematography). When using adapters with electronic contacts on cameras with a different mount (e.g. mirrorless system cameras, cine cameras), we cannot guarantee for the compatibility and functionality of ZE lenses.
ANTI-REFLECTIVE COATING
The Zeiss anti-reflective coating is an optical design feature which ensures superior clarity and image brilliance, even in poor or unfavorable lighting conditions. Zeiss enhances the anti-reflective properties of this lens by meticulously applying incredibly thin, transparent coatings to the glass surfaces. This is achieved through a high-vacuum deposition process, where specialized substances are energized and then precisely layered onto the glass, one after another, to minimize reflections.
ADVANCED APERTURE DESIGN
With ZEISS lenses you can create stunning Bokeh effects, thanks to the finely tuned features of ZEISS SLR lenses. By keeping the background intentionally blurred, additional focus is created on the subject of an image. The uniquely engineered diaphragm blades of this lens, along with the virtually circular aperture, deliver stunning renditions of highlights the back and foreground.
FLOATING ELEMENTS DESIGN
Optical aberrations are kept to a minimum, thanks to the use of the latest floating element design principles. This is achieved by variation of the axial distance between individual lens elements or groups. This adjustment of the lens-to-lens distance is coupled to the distance setting to ensure correct compensation at all times. The mechanical construction of these lenses is extremely complex and they must be assembled with utmost precision - both hallmarks of ZEISS.
