Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM Zoom Lens for Nikon DSLR

Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM Zoom Lens for Nikon DSLR

The Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM is a wide to standard zoom lens designed for Nikon DSLRs. Equipped with a Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) and an Optical Stabilizer (OS), the 17-50mm boasts a large fixed 2.8 aperture throughout the entire zoom range. An OS allows for easier handheld shooting, while the HSM ensures quick, accurate and consistent autofocusing. FLD glass elements (with performance equal to fluorite), along with two glass mold elements and one hybrid aspherical lens, provide excellent correction of aberrations and allow for incredibly sharp images with great contrast. Super Multi-Layer coating reduces flare and ghosting, while the lightweight and compact construction make it a necessary addition to any camera bag.

DC for Digital

These are special lenses designed for APS-C size sensors so that the image circle matches the smaller size of the image sensor of most digital SLR cameras. Their specialized design gives these lenses the ideal properties for digital cameras, the compact and lightweight construction is an added bonus!

Aspherical Lens

The aspherical lens complex allows freedom of design, improved performance, a reduced number of component lenses and a compact size.

Quiet and Fast Autofocusing

HSM lenses employ a motor powered by ultrasonic waves that produce a quiet, yet high-speed AutoFocus. You can enjoy high performance with low noise in a variety of shooting situations.

EX Lens

The exterior of this lens is EX-finished to denote the superior build and optical quality, and to enhance its appearance.

Inner Focus

To ensure stability in focusing, this lens moves the inner lens group without changing the lens’ physical length.

Optical Stabilizer

This function utilizes a built-in mechanism that compensates for camera shake. It dramatically expands photographic possibilities by alleviating cameras movement when shooting by hand held camera.

Wide to Standard Zoom Lens

A standard zoom lens is a lens in which the focal length varies, unlike a prime or fixed lens. A zoom lens is one that maintains (or regains) focus even when the focal length of the subject matter changes. Zoom lenses, such as this, provide the user with a convenient, go-to lens of variable focal length. A wide-angle lens is a lens whose focal length is shorter than a normal lens for a given picture plane. A wide-angle lens allows for more of the scene to be included in your picture. Wide-angle lenses allow for the photographer to get creative with the depth of field, since the background can be made to look expansive. These lenses are great for scenic landscape photography, architecture and interior photography.
