Gitzo’s Systematic Series 5 tripod line is designed with professional photographers and videographers in mind. These tripods are manufactured from flexible and sturdy carbon tubes that can support virtually any DSLR or video camera configuration. These Series 5 models also offer a wide height range for shooting from extremely low angles or over the top of large crowds. But sometimes you need even more height, and that’s where this Systematic Geared Column accessory comes in. The aluminum column fits all Systematic Series 5 tripods and allows heavy loads to be safely raised and lowered using the hand-cranked gear mechanism. There’s also a safety catch feature that works with the safety button on Series 5 tripods to prevent the column from dropping even if it’s accidentally left unlocked. There are solid discs with mounting screws on either side of the column for attaching camera bodies and tripod heads, too. If you need additional stabilization for extremely heavy loads, the column has a retractable hook to hang counterweights from.
