FUJIFILM X-M5 Mirrorless Camera with XC 15-45mm Lens (Black)
Bigger Sensor, Better Image
The first X-M camera in more than a decade, the X-M5 boasts the same 26.1 MP X-Trans 4 CMOS sensor as its viral cousin, the X100V, and the same X-Processor 5 as the X100VI. More than 16 times the size of an average smartphone sensor, the X-Trans 4's superior light-gathering abilities mean richer colors, more detail, and better low-light performance. The sensor's design features a randomized pixel array that mimics the organic nature of film, producing nuanced colors and transitions while reducing digital artifacts. The larger, APS-C sensor creates a shallower depth of field, unlocking deeper background blur and subject separation.
Optimized Audio, 6K Video
The X-M5 was designed to address the full spectrum of contemporary content creation, excelling in both audio and video capture. The camera has three built-in microphones and four sound capture modes - Surround, Front Priority, Back Priority, and Front & Back Priority - to optimize sound-gathering for specific situations. A 3.5mm microphone socket allows further control over the soundscape, while new in-camera algorithms enable both voice enhancement and environmental noise reduction.
Film Simulations and Color Science
Renowned for its color science, FUJIFILM has outfitted the X-M5 with 20 Film Simulation modes to reproduce the look and feel of several of the company's storied film types. The camera's true-to-life results can be interpreted with these film simulations, eight of which are accessible on one of the camera's top dials. The modes can simplify workflows by producing edited material straight out of the camera.
Design and Build
The X-M5 is the smallest and lightest X-series body, weighing 12.5 oz without a lens and spanning 4.4in wide. Keeping with the FUJIFILM aesthetic and X-series design philosophy, the black rangefinder-style body comes with a series of top dials to set mode, film simulation, and adjust settings. The interchangeable lens mount accepts any of the more than 35 X-series lenses, with the option to connect other lenses with an appropriate, optional adapter.
The camera features a 3-inch articulating LCD touchscreen optimized for self-taping. Anticipating the needs of creators, FUJIFILM has shifted the locations of connector ports to the right side of the camera, eliminating wire interference with the monitor. The microphone port has also been moved from the side of the camera to the rear to further accommodate content creation accessories.
FUJIFILM XC 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ Lens (Black)
The FUJIFILM XC 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ Lens (Black) is a compact, retractable standard zoom for X-mount mirrorless cameras, offering a 23-69mm equivalent focal length. It features a power zoom design with electronic control for smooth transitions and two zoom speeds, ideal for video. The lens includes optical image stabilization (up to three stops), a stepping motor for quiet autofocus, and a rounded seven-blade diaphragm for pleasing bokeh. Its optical design uses aspherical and extra-low dispersion elements to enhance sharpness and reduce aberrations, while a Super EBC coating minimizes flare and ghosting for better contrast and color accuracy.
